Vascular Lesions

What is a vascular lesion

When clinicians talk about vascular lesions, we are usually referring to blood vessels that are prominent and through the skin.

Vascular lesions are common on the face and may be hard to cover with make-up, leading to anxiety for sufferers.

Visible vascular lesions can be caused by ageing, trauma, sun exposure, genetic factors, medical conditions and lifestyles.

But unsightly veins can now be a thing of the past!

Treatments

Laser treatments are extremely effective at removing most vascular lesions.

Using light energy the blood in the vessel is coagulated, which will be removed by the body’s immune system, resulting in a clearer complexion.

Chemical peels can be used to help reduce vascular rosacea symptoms.

Laser Vascular Treatment

Laser vascular treatments have been shown to effectively reduce the haemoglobin within vascular lesions.

Vascular treatments take between 10 -30 minutes, depending on the number of lesions. Treatments can be performed every 4 weeks and may take up to 3 treatments for full removal.

Treatments are very tolerable, with a sensation similar to the snap of an elastic band.

Redness post-treatment may last for 72 hours, and some lesions may temporarily darken before disappearing.

Chemical Peel Vascular Treatment

Chemical peels can be used for rosacea type vascular conditions. These peels reduce the redness and inflammation brought on by rosacea, the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory action soothes irritation, while its hydrating properties leaves much-needed moisture behind strengthening the skins barrier function.

This peels’ larger molecular structure means it absorbs more slowly into the skin causing less irritation. Vitamin C serum should be used post-procedure for the best results, which can be purchased at the clinic.

Following treatment, dry skin may be present for up to 5 days. This treatment can be performed every 4 weeks.
