Age Spot

Age spots (also known as lentigo, sun damage, sun spots or liver spots) are small, flat areas of darker pigmentation that develop on the skin over time due to sun exposure and natural ageing. They are most commonly found on sun-exposed areas such as the face, hands, shoulders, and décolletage, and vary in colour from light brown to dark brown.

Melasma

Melasma is a common form of pigmentation that appears as larger, symmetrical patches of darker skin, most often on the face. It is commonly triggered by hormonal changes, sun exposure, and sometimes genetics, and is frequently seen on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, and jawline. Melasma can vary in depth and intensity and often requires a targeted, long-term treatment approach.

Freckles

Freckles are small, flat spots of pigmentation that appear on the skin, typically as a result of sun exposure and genetic predisposition. They are usually light brown or tan in colour and most commonly found on areas exposed to sunlight, such as the face, shoulders, and arms. Freckles often become more pronounced in warmer months and fade during periods of reduced sun exposure.

Facial Post-Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation

Post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation (PIH) is a type of pigmentation that develops after an injury or inflammation to the skin, such as acne, eczema, burns, or cosmetic procedures. It appears as flat areas of darker skin that can range in colour from light brown to grey or even blue-toned, depending on skin type and depth of pigmentation. PIH is not permanent but can take time to fade and often benefits from targeted treatment and strict sun protection.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) on the body is a common skin condition where darker patches develop after inflammation or trauma to the skin, such as waxing, shaving, chaffing, or hormonal changes. It appears as flat areas of increased pigmentation, ranging from light brown to dark brown or grey tones, and is more noticeable on areas such as the  female genital region, underarms, and inner legs.

Seborrheic Keratosis

Seborrhoeic keratoses are very common, benign (non-cancerous) skin growths that often appear with age. They typically present as raised, waxy or “stuck-on” lesions that can vary in colour from light tan to dark brown or black, and in texture from smooth to rough or warty. They can appear anywhere on the body but are most commonly found on the face, chest, back, and shoulders. Although harmless, they can be easily mistaken for other pigmented lesions and as such must be checked by a Doctor before removal.
